Back Pain? Change Up Your Posture!

There are a many great ways to approach the endeavor to improve your posture. There are workouts you can try and clever tips and tricks that serve as reminders to better your posture every day. The main components to an improved quality of posture include the following:
- Developed Musculature
Cardio exercise will help you to lose extra fat around your body, but muscle is only fully developed through strength-building workouts such as weight lifting or body-weight calisthenics. Poorly developed muscles will leave your neck and spinal cord unsupported which is a major contributor to your pain. Yoga is another example of an endeavor that will help strengthen your core muscles and spine – the benefit of this alternative is that it also works on your alignment.
- Looking Ahead
One of the main issues with people’s posture is a forward-centered head. People protrude forward or “lead” with their head which results in neck misalignment and slouching in the shoulders. Desk jobs are notorious for causing this formation in posture, as is the phenomenon of “text” posture in our digital age. To remedy this, one needs only to be mindful of it. Ideally, your body will stack so that your spine supports your neck which supports your head, with your shoulder girdle as a counter-weight.
- A Good Stretch
You can rectify the compression and unnatural curvature which is wrecking your posture and causing you pain. Oftentimes, a good elongation of the body will realign your spine and help you eliminate unwanted discomfort.
- A Support System

- Alert! Alert!
Staying alert, focused, and mindful is really the number one way to transform your posture. The key is that you don’t want to only notice bad posture and correct it, but you ultimately want to replace it with good posture as a tendency. This includes lying down, sitting, standing, and walking.
